OUR VISION
To make the town of Dalkeith and surrounding area a hub of artistic activity.
OUR MISSION
To offer adults opportunities to learn, take part and create.
OUR VALUES
Creativity
We believe everyone has the ability to create art and we want to share in it.
Inclusivity
We offer a warm welcome to everyone and endeavour to make sure we reach all the members of our community. We are a not for profit organisation so we charge as little as we can for classes and any profit goes back into the pot to provide more low cost or free provision.
Community
We work with the arts in a way that encourages people to share and build lasting friendships. We want to make Dalkeith and Midlothian an even more beautiful place.

DALKEITH
Dalkeith is a great town with an amazing history. No one's really sure of the meaning of the name Dalkeith but doesn't matter to us. Making sure Dalkeith means something now to the people of Midlothian is what matters.
It grew up around the castle built by the Graham family, which was eventually bought by the Duke of Buccleuch who in turn built Dalkeith House sometimes known as Dalkeith Palace.
In the 19th century the town was famous for being the biggest indoor grain market in Scotland, held in the Corn Exchange building, which was funded through public subscription. Wow! People power.
As with most key locations Dalkeith's fortunes have varied due to economic and demographic changes. The town has lost its status as a great market town but we are really lucky to have retained some iconic buildings and the history and herstory that bring them to life.
Dalkeith Arts is one of the many community organisations at the heart of our twenty first century regeneration. Watch this space and share our progress.
2020 brought us Covid 19. We worked through it using art as our connection. The first virtual exhibition featured a selection of the artwork that was produced over the lockdown period. We aim to continue with annual online exhibitions.
